Greenacres, Oldham

A £25m brown field site retail development in Oldham comprising a 150,000ft² retail shell “on stilts” for Tesco, multi storey car park and 8 retail units fronting Huddersfield Road. The site clearance and road closures required substantial utility diversions and relocations to be procured in short timescales. Energy to the Tesco extra store is to be provided from a biodiesel driven CHP unit to satisfy the local authority’s renewable energy planning policies. Works commenced on site in April 2008 and were completed in April 2009.

REDS appointment was for the outline design of the shell services, including car park services, the coordination of all on and off-site utility extensions and modifications and overall construction phase monitoring.
